Sky11 Better The Boxxx, But still not Skybox Good

I used to be a regular attendee of this place during the Skybox Chicago days and it honestly was my friend's and I's club of choice (we even affectionately called it the box ironically before the first name change). Ever since the change in management, it seems like this place has been in a constant state of renaming and re-branding to find a desired niche and crowd. After visiting during the early stages of The Boxxx re-branding, I found myself having a terrible time and decided that this spot wasn't my type of club anymore. However while being out recently, my friends and I decided to attempt a triumphant return after hearing of what I believe to be the third name change for this club (I feel like they do that every time there's a shooting or bad publicity occurrence).

When we arrived at the same old gravel and pot-holed parking lot we were told that parking was $10 (that's an upgrade from the $15 or $20 I remember from last time but still annoying for us who remember when parking was free and feel the lot is in worse quality compared to then) Supposedly if we get there before 11:00 pm parking is free.

While making our way to the building, we began to notice that the female to male patron ratio was about 4 to 1 outside the club at this point (I’m not complaining, just something we noticed). Security detail basically entails alternating between two pat-downs and walking through a metal detector. Definitely more security than I’m used to but after having a shooting you can’t ever be too safe I guess. After finally making it into the club we came in expecting our $5.00 cover as promised by a text message verification from the clubs website (free if you get there before 11) only to find out that we actually had to receive the offer before 10:00 pm for it to be honored the day of your visit (our texts were time stamped at 10:02 pm ha-ha). While we didn’t see anything the explicitly listed the time limit, we went ahead and paid the full cover of $20, first disappointment of the night.

Upon entering the club, I chose to head to the bar to get a proper lay of the land. The floor plan was similar to the way I remember from The Boxxx setup with their being a main stage in the center with all seating near the stage being about 10+ feet from the stage, I’m not a fan of this setup as I usually like to sit and throw my bills plus it makes drink handling an issue in my opinion. I did notice that there were more secondary stages that were available that weren’t just available for bottle service patrons which I believe was the setup under the last name (first positive point of the night). After ordering my drinks(a beer for $5 and well drink for $13), I tried to open up a tab only to find out all transactions had to be cash (this might be a common occurrence at all clubs and I’m just a little out of practice). This disappointed me as now I had to further dip into my entertainment money for beverages and bartender tipping.

The environment of this place screams south suburb club and the dancers and bottle girls have the appearance of such. 99% of the dancers and bottle girls are black with that 1% being a Latina bottle girl. All of the ladies basically had similar body shapes with them being thick in the waist and plump on the backside with variation of breast size and sagging varying from dancer to dancer (I still love you mommy’s). The stage shows are still kind of tamed with the dancers never really getting nude and only giving flashes of greatness if you catch my drift. I will give the ladies a compliment that they now push private dances a little more than those of the Boxxx version (I remember a dancer during my last visit looked like she didn’t know what a private dance was). I’ll go ahead and give the women an overall rating of a solid 7/10 they were all generally thick in the waist and decent in the face, the bottle girls appear to have been winning the overall looks battle though.
