sinclair's Review
The Other Place has not been reviewed in two years, so I thought I would check it out while working in Fond du Lac. The long, narrow building is on US 45 right next to a Walgreens. There is no parking lot, so you have to find parking on the street. I entered around 19:30 on a Thursday night. There is no cover to enter. As you enter, there is a long bar with twenty bar stools along the left wall. Beer is served in cans. A can of Budweiser was $5. Hard liquor is served, but the selection is bare bones. There are only about ten bottles to choose from. The right side of the room has a small stage about two feet off the ground and five high top tables. The stage has a seven foot tall pole and railings along the perimeter. There were never more than a couple patrons inside. Only one or two patrons bothered to tip the stage. Most patrons just drank and played with their smartphones.
Music is played off of a TouchTunes jukebox. Dancers do four song sets on stage. Sometimes they beg for money for the jukebox. Sometimes they do a tip walk if no one tips them on stage. After seeing the rotation of entertainers once through, I wondered if I had stepped into a freakshow or a halfway house.
