All that glitters is not gold
Came here with some friends because one of them had fond memories of this dive from over a decade ago. My friend regaled us with stories of how mix raced girls would let him finger them throughout a song for a dollar. I like cheap liquor and cheap women, so I agreed to tag along.
Unfortunately, this club had undergone renovations in the years since my friend last visited. There is a sports bar next door--relatively upscale for this neighborhood--with entrances from the front and rear so that you can access the parking lot behind both establishments. We paid $15 each for cover and wrist bands to the VIP area. This gave us the ability to be seated in the marginally raised and barely private area behind the bar.
I saw two full bars, multiple mini stages, and lots of hallways and doors to unkempt closets. I gathered that the remodel put this club in an uncomfortable middle ground. It's no longer the party/wallet friendly dive bar (numerous venues on Harry Hines constantly aim for this market). It is also nowhere near classy enough to compete with the likes of Buck's, bbd, or the lodge.
