Holding Steady

I stopped by Sugar 44 this past weekend. I arrived around 10pm, there was plenty of parking available, which to me was not a good sign as it's a very small parking lot. Cover charge was $10, no ID scan, no wand, no pat down once again. Sure enough, it was a pretty empty club.

I noticed several people sitting at the bar chatting with the girls as I walked in, but as I headed over to the dance area I noticed that there was only 1 other customer over there, 1 girl on stage and not many dancers wandering about. I was starting to think it would be a quick visit. I paid $6 for a Bud Light. I figured I'd cut my losses if things didn't improve by the time I finished my beer. It didn't take long for things to pick up though and it was quite busy by the time I left around midnight.

As mentioned, I didn't see many dancers at first, but once things picked up there had to be 12-15 working. I'd put them in the 6-8 range, nobody looked out of place. There were a few new faces too, including a dancer I knew from a different club who had just moved over to Sugar 44 (she will be a welcome addition if she sticks around). I spent some VIP time with her (in the older VIP area) and was not disappointed. Still $20 for the wristband then $20 per dance in the VIP. I later tried out the new VIP area, they have a black curtain in front of it that does do a nice job of blocking gawkers from the bar. Only problem is if someone were to walk in while you are getting dances there and they open that curtain up, that would expose you to the whole bar area. So, word to the wise, avoid the first couple spots if using that area. The $10 dances on the main floor are not bad either and are a good way to decide who to move to the VIP area with. Worth mentioning here too that the bouncers at this club are also very unobtrusive.
