I guess it's a thing

I was in Atlanta for work and did a bit of a tour of some of the local strip clubs. My first stop, mostly because it was easy to get to via ride share from my hotel, was the Clermont Lounge. I was dropped off in front of the Clermont Hotel. There's a sign for the lounge pointing to the back, but I found it less than clear where the place was. It's a walk back along the side of the building and down some stairs to the lower level in the back. I was carded, but there was no cover charge.

Inside, the Lounge is just an old bar. There was actually a big space to the left of the door with a slightly raised stage space and seating, as well as more seating and a dart board in the back. That was all empty when I arrived, though I was told the place gets busy with karaoke on Tuesdays and a spinning disco ball party on Saturdays. To the right of the door is the bar, which wraps around a small stage set inside the circle of the bar at bar height, so there's a walk space between the stage and the bar for the bartender. The edge of the stage was used as a shelf for the liquor bottles. The bar itself was covered with (possibly made entirely from, given its squish) black duct tape. My Coke was $2 and the bartender refilled it for free.

On stage when I arrived was an old white woman, significantly older than me and I'm not a young guy. Apparently I share a name with one of her grand kids. She stood on the stage with her top pulled down and sort of bounced to the music. Later a few other dancers went up, all black and younger than the first. One was actually somewhat fit and wouldn't have been entirely out of place at other strip clubs. Another was a little heavy and had what might be the largest natural breasts I've ever seen. None of them provided what I'd call a stage show. There was no pole, and not really any dancing. I got once lap dance ($10) just because. It was an air dance, and not a very interesting one at that.
