Bad Night At Griffin
See my earlier reviews for full details on this venue.
As I have said many times The Griffin is only any good when it's busy and people gather round the stage for a good view. I arrived tonight at about 9.00 and it was dead and poor. I got a place at one corner of stage, but view from that angle is poor. Directly in front of girls is good, but you can't be the only one. My last visit on the Friday night before Xmas was a good, busy night. After not much more than an hour I was tired out so left an hour earlier than I'd planned anyway to get train home from Bournemouth. Although it was dead for the Griff on a Saturday night, there probably enough people lurking round the bar to have made a better atmosphere if they went to the front (instead of being in the way when you're trying to get a drink.) I call them "The fear of pussy brigade."
On the good side. The girls (on average) are the best strippers in London (for looks and especially for performance.) I like Derek the DJ both for his selection of varied music between girls and sense of humour. The bouncers are fair, effecient and don't take any nonsense from pissed up morons. On the bad side the bar staff are miserable and always look like it's a chore to have to serve you. They weren't at their worst tonight though, I must admit.
