Latina Grindhouse

I've thought about trying Chicas Bonitas many times. I've been out to Palomino on numerous occasions and Chicas is just down the street. I've hesitated, however, because I generally haven't had good experiences with dive clubs, and that was the sort of description I've had. On my last trip, however, I decided to finally check it out. I figured at worst I could turn around and walk straight back out of the place without being out much. I'm glad I did; the experience exceeded my expectations.

The club, to be clear, is definitely a dive. It's more a bar with a little space for strippers than a strip club. It's dark with a low ceiling. The furniture consists of barely padded chairs and some tiny tables. The bathroom is a Superfund site with one (usually stopped up) urinal.

What saved it for me was first that the quality of the dancers was better than I expected. On average they were definitely a more typical woman than the fit/thin/stripper-like dancers down the street. And a few were heavy or otherwise not terribly attractive. One had the most astonishingly large and unpleasant butt implants, with tattoos across the cheeks. However, a number of them were quite cute. A few were hot. In addition, nothing about the club had pretensions to being anything other than it was. The cover charge was just $5.00. Drink prices were normal for a bar, not outlandishly high like at many Vegas strip clubs ($6 for a water/Coke, $10 or so for something stronger). Everything was pretty laid back.
