I Wouldn't Make A Special Trip, But Not Bad

I finished up some business in Decatur early, so I stopped by Pin Ups at about 3:00 in the afternoon. It’s in a commercial area on East Ponce De Leon Avenue, the main road in Decatur that runs west all the way to downtown Atlanta. It’s not an upscale area (although some parts of Decatur are), but it’s not in the hood either.

There were lots of cars in front of the building and a sign by the side of the building saying there was more parking in the rear. However, there were still a few spaces open in front, so I pulled into one and went inside. There was no cover at this time of day, but I did have to pass through a metal detector and submit to a pat down by a beefy bouncer to gain entrance.

The last time I was in Pin Ups was easily more than 25 years ago. At that time, it was a mixed club. Mixed as in white and black dancers, but there was also a time when they even had male dancers. At some point, it transformed into a black club with, thankfully, all female dancers. But enough reminiscing.
