I was stranded in Houston about a month back. It was my first time in town, so I thought I'd take advantage of it and hit the St. James. As I expected, it had a pretty big crowd on a Saturday night. The layout of the club is one main large stage and 2 smaller ones on the main floor with a lot of tables all around. There are a couple of private dance areas that are made up of small rooms down narrow hallways. Upstairs is another bar, more seating, and a number of rooms (20+?) ringing the area.

I sat downstairs for a while and was approached by a few dancers that didn't interest me. After a while I saw a beautiful blond sitting at the bar across the room. With this kind of crowd, no reason to wait to be noticed, so I went over and asked for a private dance. She suggested the rooms upstairs, so off we went. Her dances had good mileage though nothing extra. Once in the room upstairs, it felt a little less private than I would have thought - nothing covering the doorway, so you never knew who might poke their head in. For $20 dances though, these were awfully nice.

Next I noticed a gorgeous brunette dancing with two other girls on a small stage. I went up, tipped her, and asked for a private dance when she finished the stage work. This time, we went to a room downstairs. I thought with the private hall, things would be better. It turned out worse. In the room next door, a guy was getting a dance and two or three of his buddies were standing in the hallway and kept sticking their heads in. I had very nice dances, but again, nothing too outstanding due to the crowd. I think things would be better on a less busy night, but again, for $20 dances, the ladies and the mileage were pretty darn good. I'd definitely go back.
