Some gems to be found here

This is my second visit to tj. The first, I stayed mostly at HK but enjoyed a session at adelitas. So this time I vowed to venture out a bit more.

I walked into bar tropical around 9:00 on Sunday night. Like the rest of tj, there is no cover. It was slow but I decided to have a drink and then move on. First they bring me 2 for 1 rum and coke for $4. So I stayed for 2 drinks and it ended up well worth it. After about 10 mins of no stage action, they started bringing girls to dance. Girls would do 2 songs and then be escorted by the mc table to table to get a tip from anyone who didn’t tip on stage. A $1 tip works fine.

Most of the talent here is in the 5-6 range...doable but not typically the quality you pay for. Most of the customers were more local and the only other gringos were young kids presumably more interested in cheap drinks than the women.
