As Advertised

I was in the Baltimore area and headed downtown after my other obligations were finished. I had previously been to Club Pussycat on the Block but nowhere else. Block clubs are rather sleazy but recent reviews indicate Red Room may be the best of the lot.

As I walked down the street towards the club various hawkers for each club kept yelling at me to come into their club. For this club the hawker yelled “10 girls” and held the door for me to enter. Like Pussycat the Red Room is down a flight of stairs to below street level. The club is then a long narrow room with a stage set back behind the bar along most of the length of the room. The bar looks like it seats about 15 people. There were about 4-5 girls sitting at the first few seats at the bar and then a single other patron sitting alone about halfway down the bar. I sat down and the waiter gave me a Coke for $7. Then the girl parade began. One by one the girls would stop by to say hello and chat. Within about thirty seconds the bartender would come by and ask me to buy the girl a drink. I would decline, the girl would leave and the next girl would repeat the routine.

The girls were about half and half white and black. The first few were definitely not to my taste, either old and well-used, overweight or simply not very good looking. Finally a young slender girl came by who looked tolerably good. (I didn’t see the one hottie until later.) We talked, we touched and I bought her a drink. $25. After about 10 minutes of touching and talking we broached the subject of dances. She quoted $110 to go to the lap dance room and $180 for an hour in the VIP/Champaign room. I asked her tip for the latter doing everything we could get away with and she quoted $100. At those prices I said let’s go. The bartender took the room fee, asking for $220. I objected and he eventually came down to the girl’s $180 quote.
