Grind-n-Go Visit, but Good
My expectations were guarded about this club. HiLiter had been gobs of fun, but still a bit of a letdown (it would have been better in its heyday I’m sure).
This is going to sound a little redundant, but Bourbon Street Circus is DARK inside. I didn't pay any cover, and as I walked in from the entry past the door guy (who basically said hello and waived me on when I paused to see if he wanted anything else like an ID) I was a little concerned I’d be bumping furniture trying to get around. I could see the main stage across the room, and a bar off to my right, and basically nothing else. I knew there must have been a sea of tables and chairs between me and stage, but wasn’t that interested in stumbling around so I started walking along the wall to my left because I could make out there was a walkway.
The main stage was smallish, but had interesting lighting that had the effect of little spotlights lining the stage area. There were also poles at the stage corners on the main stage (and satellite stage) that the dancers could make interesting use of. It was so dark I didn’t even realize I was by a side stage until I backed my chair into it. I didn’t spend a lot of time in this club, but did get a couple of dances. A private VIP room was mentioned as an option that I was kicking around, but opted no because I had a plane to catch and would have been in no rush to leave. I don’t see any mention of a private VIP in other reviews, so maybe I imagined it or dodged a bullet of wasted cash.
