Visited: Saturday Afternoon

This review is actually going to be the summary of two visits, a Friday afternoon after work, and a Saturday afternoon. I originally decided to go to Centerfold's when my ATF was let go from another club after they went through a big purge. And to be honest, upon walking in, if it wasn't for my ATF, I would have walked out the first instant my foot crossed the threshold. But, it was while waiting for my friend, that I found another reason to stay and come back for more.

Plenty has been written about the sorry state of the parking lot, so I won't go into detail. I will say that you need to be careful when pulling out onto Route 20 (one of the busiest roads in Massachusetts). The transition from the parking lot to the main road is very abrupt, and if you are not careful, could find yourself half way onto the road with traffic bearing down on you ready to T-bone you. And with the club being located in a industrial/commercial area, you can imagine that traffic is pretty substantial during the afternoon commute.

The club itself is very non-descript, though it gives off a very old-school combat zone vibe to it. Physically, it's very small, but you don't realize how small it is until you walk inside. As you walk in through the main door, the main stage dominates your view, taking up 3/4 of the main lounge area. The club is essentially one long rectangle, divided into three areas. The very cramped bar takes one end (to your right as you walk in), the main lounge, and then the lap dance/VIP area to your left, the entrances flanking the long main stage. Because the club is so small, seating is definitely at a premium. Most of the seats are at the stage, with about three high tables/bar stools next to the DJ booth and the door. The walls parallel to the stage are lined with padded benches, but this is where most of the girls are sitting when they aren't working the room. Opportunities to sit alone to scope out the action is very limited since you're pretty much out in the open. I can imagine a Sunday during football season can be pretty tight quarters.

Now walking in, you definitely get the sense that the club has definitely seen better days. It just looks like and feels like nobody has invested in the place since at least the seventies. It all feels very run-down, and no thought seems to be given towards either improving the overall vibe or make the club more welcoming or glamorous. The bathrooms, located directly opposite from the entrance are clean, but you get the feeling that it's only clean in the sense that it's done to meet the health board's minimum requirements.

Coming in on an afternoon, I avoided the cover charge, which according to the sign on the front door was $5.00 after 6:00 pm. Typical bar fare is available, with beer going for about $5.00 a bottle and water going for $4.00. I didn't order any mixed drinks, so I can't speak to their cost. No food is served, but that may be for the best given the general state of the place.
