Iconic Cab delivers
The Cabaret Club is an icon of strip clubs. The club is famous for, and delivers on, easily available extras with no frills. While not for everyone, every clubber should go at least once. I try to hit it up when I am in El Paso, which isn’t as often as I would like. As I have said in previous reviews, if you don’t want a stripper’s hand in your lap or more, don’t go here. You won’t get out without a Cabaret handshake.
The Cabaret Club is located in a strip mall and can be easy to miss if you are not paying attention to signs or your navigation aid. The entrance has a bench outside where dancers go to smoke. Be sure to say hi to them if they are there when you enter. The cover charge is $15 to enter and they put a band on your wrist. It is wise to have exact change as some have experienced giving the door person a twenty and having them put the change directly in a tip jar. The Cabaret Club is BYOB, which is good as it avoids close scrutiny by the liquor control board. If you didn’t bring your own, there is a runner who hangs around the front entrance who will go get beer for you. The usual charge is $10, up front, for a six pack, which includes the beer and a tip to the runner. I suppose you can also have him get hard liquor for a simiar tip. It pays to bring your own. Be prepared to pay an additional $5 for ice to cool your beer when you get inside. An alternative is to try to buy a drink from someone who has brought their own or bought it. They usually have more than they can drink in one sitting. You can buy soft drinks at the bar and they will leave room to add the hard liquor if you ask. I paid $4 plus $1 tip for a soda water. The beer/liquor thing is all informal, so the exact procedure may change from what I have described.
When you enter, it is dark. Really dark. The only club I have been in that was as dark is the Blue Moon in Phoenix and for a similar reason. “Private” dances are held in three sided booths along the sides of the club. The darkness provides privacy. You will be approached almost immediately for dances, even before you sit down. My advice is to put off the early approaches and see what all is available. The dancers usually have a hard sell and it may be hard to resist. Every dancer that sat down with me to ask if I wanted a dance took time to put her hand in my lap and vigorously apply the hard sell. Don’t expect real good lookers here, when I was here most of the dancers were average to below average in looks and most were varying degrees of overweight. Still there were many that were attractive in their own way and there is often a good looker. Most of the dancers were Latin, but I noticed an African American or two. There were no Asians which is not unusual for El Paso. I assume that the usual procedure is for the dancer to ask you for a dance, if you say yes, then adjourn to the private booth where you get a $20 dance. The dancer then proceeds to up sell with physical persuasion additional dances with extras. You can circumvent the initial dance stage and save $20 by asking the dancer about what you can do during the dance. She will usually tell you and quote a price. Most are pretty explicit about what they offer and for how much. Most will volunteer the information if you don’t ask. There didn’t seem to be much room to negotiate, but that may have been because it was a weekend. I suspect that they are more willing to bargain during slower times in the middle of the week. After a couple of initial privates with dancers that weren’t too motivated, I had a great dance with Tracy, a Hispanic with dark hair and nice bolt ons. She was friendly, skilled at conversation as well as non verbal communication, well equipped, and left me satisfied. I highly recommend her if she is around.
