Possibly a new favorite

I had been reluctant to try Scarlett's for some reason. I think partly I have had a reliably good time at Hustler Club, and generally returned there when I was in St. Louis. The other club on Bunkum Road, Miss Kitty's, was also a sketchy disappointment, and for whatever reason I thought the same would be true of Scarlett's. During my last visit to St. Louis I decided to drive past Hustler Club, and give Scarlett's a try, and was glad I did.

Scarlett's Cabaret is easy to get to, maybe 15 minutes from downtown St. Louis, just off I-64. It's also easy to spot. There are bright signs on the road, the large parking lot is well lit, and the entire building is lined with more lights. Inside, the cover charge was $10, and the interior was as brightly lit as the outside. This was a little unusual, as most clubs are fairly dim other than the lights on the stage. It made it easy to see what was going on around the club and spot dancers from afar, but I think it was perhaps a tad too bright. It's a large space, with the main stage on one side and then a smaller rectangular stage on the other, with a smallish bar. There's a sort of dead space between the two stages without tables or anything. Maybe it fills with standing patrons on really busy nights, but it felt wasted (they should have had more tables).

A bottle of water was $5.25, a silly rate I guess intended to ensure a minimum tip or something, since who wants change back? One waitress actually just asked if it was ok to round up to $6. A Hennessy was $11, a Red Bull chaser was $2 (both for a dancer, though I don't think the price was different than it would have been for myself). The service was fine, though there seemed to be fewer waitresses for the crowd than at the Hustler Club down the street, and it was sometimes a little wait to get anyone's attention.
