A disappointing first visit (except for lunch)
Having read multiple reviews of the Cricket over the past month and growing a bit tired of my regular hangouts I decided to give Cricket a try. I’m virtually always an afternoon visitor, and had some free time after a flight so it was an opportune time to check it out. To be fair other reviewers generally say that this place is hit or miss, and today was definitely a miss for me. I arrived around 1:45 and was happy to park in the free lot behind the club. My intent was to have lunch and check out the talent. If someone moved me I was up for more. Unfortunately that wasn’t ment to be. Over the course of my 90 minute stay I saw approximately 15 dancers either on stage or wandering around, mixed with 2 or 3 AA and the rest white. At least 12 were, well to be nice, heavy. Some quite heavy. Not my type (but seemingly quite common almost everywhere these days). The three that weren’t were not bad, but seemed totally disinterested in being there. The stage preformances were lukewarm at best, with three or four making at least minimal eye contact and only one giving me a smile. Not one even said hello. I suppose I could have worked harder at getting their attention (I’ve done that before), but it really didn’t feel like it was going to be worth the effort. So quite a disappointing visit on the dancer front. On the other hand the interior of the club itself was fine. Clean and while small did not feel cramped. Lots of good views of the main stage and plenty of TVs (which I eventually spent a fair amount of time watching the Tigers). The burger I had for lunch was excellent, and my waitress adorable and attentive. Two Blue Lights cost me $11.00, a good deal for a strip club and my total food and drink bill was just above $20.00 (without tip which was ample because she was the best thing in the place). I’m good at giving second chances, so I will visit again for a burger and hope the next trip is more “satisfying”.
