Texas Jay's is situated on 1st Street, immediately south of National; and there are two parking lots that accommodate about a dozen cars each. Arriving at 7 pm, I managed to find a space. There was a $5 door fee. The building is L-shaped and contains up to 3 stages with poles (2 of them joined together) that wrap around the periphery. The interior is spacious, has wood paneling, lots of pulsating light fixtures, and tables with plush chairs. The inside decor is fairly posh. Bar is to the right and stages to the left. Slot machines are available. Rest room is nice and yes, the toilet stalls have doors. Music volume was not too loud. Signs are up on the walls saying, "DO NOT TOUCH the dancers--4th degree felony, 9 months' incarceration and $10,000 fine." But, the dancers were fine with some contact but just what they initiated.

I was there from 7 to 8:30. A dozen customers mostly sat at the bar, with 1 or 2 coming up to the stage. I ordered some wings, which were ok. On the wall opposite the bar were 7 stalls for lap dances, none of them in use. Champaign room and VIP lounge facilities were available.

The dancers were 5 whites (increasing to 7 later on) plus 1 AA. They ranged from medium to heavy. Some names were Marley, Ruby (the lightest blonde), Gia, and Bambi (heavy, with a lengthy essay tattooed on her thigh). None of them I talked to had danced elsewhere. Some had excellent pole-twirling skills, others not so much. Except for brief intervals, one dancer was on stage all the time. Tipping will get you the usual boobs-in-face greeting. Pussy is not flashed.

Refreshingly, there was NO tip walk, and dancers were not pushy for lap dances. In sum, this is a decent place to hang out for a while without hassles and in an environment with pleasant dancers. If you desire more hands-on experience, there are some less-upscale options.
