We went to (the new) Tootsie’s on Friday and Saturday evenings over the course of a couple of weeks. While this review is probably unnecessary in view of the zillion others already here, I thought I’d make a comment or two and point out a funny event that TUSCL readers (and Tootsie’s patrons) might find entertaining.

Tootsie’s is without question the best strip club I’ve ever been to. Tootsie’s does everything exactly right. The dancers do their one-song striptease without interruption on the appropriately small stage (less-than twenty-foot wide--who wants the dancer to disappear to the other side of a fifty-foot stage?). Then the dancers slowly walk naked around the front of the stage collecting tips from and performing for everyone sitting in the front row. I think it’s great that the dancers don’t take tips during their dance, so they can do a nice striptease, uninterrupted. And it’s great to interact with them naked when you tip them afterward. On the other hand—and this is an only-at-Tootsie’s situation—I often found myself trying to peer around all the naked women walking in front of me to see the semi-clothed one on stage. Yeah, no one else sympathizes with this problem either.

Also, Tootsie’s has a “Wheel of Friction” game they interrupt the show for every couple of hours, and everyone present is automatically entered to win a chance to walk onto the stage, spin the Wheel, and win a guaranteed prize. I don’t think anyone really appreciates this game and would instead prefer to see more girls, but Tootsie’s does appear to give away a big chunk of cash every couple of months via the Wheel, and people usually jump at the chance to hop on stage and take a spin. Invariably, someone hops up after only one or two numbers are called. Anyway, one evening they pulled out the Wheel right after a particularly erotic dance from one of the most beautiful dancers. I noted at this time that I would need several minutes to calm down (I think you know what I mean here) before I could walk in a remotely dignified manner onto the stage in the event that my number was called. And I decided that I cared more about my dignity than the prize, so I decided to stay seated and not take the spin even if the Wheel guy called my number. Apparently I wasn’t alone in this dilemma, as the Wheel guy called no less than six numbers over a period of several minutes before anyone was willing to appear on stage. The Wheel guy didn’t seem to understand the problem and kept uttering things like, “Don’t you guys want a chance to win some money?” I guess strip-club managers eventually become immune to their own entertainment, no matter how erotic.
