Stay Late for Great Play
I was in town for a brief visit, and had heard about Molly Browns, so I decided to check it out. All of Daytona Beach was pretty quite this evening. I arrived at about 7p on a Sunday evening, but the Club did not open until 8p daily, so I stopped a couple of doors down at Coyote Ugly for a quick bite to eat. I parked on the street about a block away. MB's is in a building connecting in a line with other buildings, so it did not have its own parking lot. There was plenty of parking all around the area this evening. I overheard the bartender at CU talking about a recent shooting just outside the bar. I didn't catch all of the details, but it sounded like the incident happened out on the street not in front of CU, but close by. I have only been in Daytona Beach a couple of times, and always felt completely safe including this evening. This incident sounded like an isolated incident, and not the norm.
At 8p I headed over to MB's, but the doors were not open yet, I notice a block away were two other clubs the Grandview and Lollipops, so I headed over to the Grandview. I sat at the Grandview for about an hour, there were only three girls that had shown up at this time, which none had peaked my interest, so I decided to head back over to MB's. I figured I could always return to the Grandview later to see if things picked up if MB's wasn't working or check out Lollipops.
At about 9p, the doors at MB's were open, so I headed in. I believe there is usually a cover, but the gentlemen at the door said don't worry about the cover, go on in. There was only one other customer, one dancer, a waitress and bartender, so I see why I wasn't charged a normal cover at that time. The outside of the club and area looked relatively new and clean. The club is only a block off the main Daytona Beach drag, so one could easily check out other area happenings within walking distance. I settled in at the bar, and started off ordering a diet coke for $3.25. The club was relatively small with one stage starting from the front of the club where the dancers come out facing towards the back, and in the center of the room with seating around the three sides of the stage. The bar is small at the back of the room with only a few seats. There are tables on two sides of the stage, but only a few tables. There were a few tvs high on the side wall. There are balconies on two sides of the room for VIP dances with bottle service. On one side of the room of the bottom floor there is a side room with booths for what I will refer to as private dances, different than VIP dances. There is another room on the other side of the main room with maybe another bar, but the room was not being used at the time, and the balcony above is only used for overflow VIP on busy nights from what I was told. The club appeared new and very clean. I didn't see any food available.
