I won’t lie. I’ve taken many missions to the cosmos and found myself with some excess money in my space exploration budget so decided another trip was needed. It didn’t take using my telescope to site my destination. There was the occasional distraction from a Taco Truck vendor but I had decided a while back I would not partake of that lunch option anymore. To eat his own. I did see a young kat looking to get petted but you have to use some wisdom before picking up strays. It wasn’t long before mission control and I were in direct communication and my titan rocket was on the launch pad. Maybe because it was early, things were darker than morning, much like the pre-dawn space shuttle launches I grew up watching. Maybe the head of NASA forgot to turn on all the launch pad lights. Honestly the dim setting made it easier to focus on the task at hand. We got off to a manual start. With a three stage rocket, its definitely the best way to get the mission underway. Truly appreciate the hands on approach. I wasn’t long before mission control was helping me to get my space suit on. Once I was suited up, rocket entered stage two. While this was not my first trip to the cosmos, I found myself nearly overwhelmed by the intensity. The vacuum of space it truly amazing. I did my best to keep my eyes focused on the bright star. Took my rocket between two large orbs but knew it was time for stage three. Music is always in my head. ‘Some people call me space cowboy…” came to mine as the thrusters made the ride a bit bumpy. After a few adjustments I could see the full moon; what a celestial body! The afterburners kicked in and the rocket was really flying. Next song that came to mind; Ride Sally Ride. The mission was highly successful. Splash down was magnificent as ever.
