Much wasted potential
In the Boston area, my favorite stripclub is the Centerfolds in Chinatown. But I had the opportunity to try the Squire with a couple of friends, so I did. I must say I was rather disappointed...
The very first thing to notice is the guy at the entrance. That's always a hit or miss everywhere, so it's no surprise. The guy was nice and actually let us in for free (it was around 6pm, a couple of hours after they open). A few minutes later, I realized we were lucky indeed. A fellow customer told us the entrance guy charged him $20, even though there is a sign saying it's $10... It must have been a different guy.
Then, the "ambiance" is to be immediately noticed. It has a feel of a hole in the wall bar with some nude chicks here and there. This is not the type of place you want to hang out in for too long. I swear, most people probably start feeling itchy after sitting in there for too long. You just don't feel like you should touch anything, or you accept the risk of catching some STD or tetanus. The hygiene of the place is evidently not the priority of the Squire's management.
Moving on! The drinks... well, they are overpriced, like most strip clubs. No surprise there. If I remember correctly, a beer is just under $10.
Now, the service at the bar was not good! It took a while before we were approached by the bartender, and then even longer to be served. For a beer! There was a handful of other customers that looked wealthy (don't ask me why wealthy patrons would come to this place...). I believe the big boss of the place took a look at them, thought they meant the big bucks, and told his bartender to give a lot of attention to them. So the rest of us mere mortals were kind of discarded as un-VIP...
