My wife and I were staying in Ames on the Tuesday night, so we decided to check out Dangerous Curves. It was very quiet with 4 or 5 dancers and maybe a dozen customers.

It seemed as if we were the only two that were not regulars. The most amazing thing for me was how welcoming the regulars were to us. As I waited at the bar to get drinks, another customer politely pulled out a chair for my wife. Later, after a dancer finished her set, another customer sitting near us at the stage, leaned in and told us a brief heartwarming story about her. The regulars were not territorial at all, but seemed delighted to share their place with us.

The dancers were very friendly. As often happens with us, since we’re an “older” couple, the dances at the stage turned into interesting conversations. There as a variety of body type with the dancers, but all were attractive. Dangerous Curves is a bikini bar. I had one private dance, thinking perhaps I’d see more there, but the rules seemed to be the same. If you're expecting more than a bikini bar, head on down to Des Moines for the Lumberyard or Minx. If you're satisfied with a bikini bar, you'll enjoy Dangerous Curves.
