Cover is back to $25
Decided to stop back and see how the Cricket is this summer. First off, the cover charge is back to $25 with unlimited cheap beer and well drinks. One dancer said there were "issues" with the liquor license again, but didn't/couldn't elaborate. Hopefully being summer, the college "frat bro" crowd doesn't hone in like they did last time and the regular liquor license comes back by fall.
Unlike one of my former reviewed visits, when we walked in just before 10 there were 6-8 dancers working and we were the only customers! Needless to say, we were immediately joined at the bar as we ordered drinks. Dancer quality ranged from 4-8; nothing stunning, nothing awful. A couple of older dancers that have been there a while were there and two others we met that are 20 and have only been dancing for 7 months. We were warned about another dancer who is apparently schizophrenic, but was attractive enough (6-7) and seemed to get attention once other patrons showed up. All the dancers were white, a mix of blondes and brunettes, most long hair but one pixie cut. Most of the girls were fit/thin with a few legitimately "curvy" but not thick.
After escaping one of the older dancers who didn't realize I had heard her schtick before, I settled on the 20yo fairly new dancers (both 8s and the best offerings of the evening). They were both quite conversant and seemed to actually be the students they purported to be. My preferred one actually talked almost non-stop, but in a real conversation, not the typical SS. I gave her every opportunity to upsell dances but she didn't. This is not unusual at the Cricket though, and she did say since I had been sitting with the other dancer, house policy requires dancers not to "steal" customers from one another. So, be careful if a dancer leaves her drink behind, she's marking her territory and others may not approach you. I finally decided to use the direct approach and buy a few dances. They were not good; she has a great body but was not at all into the lap dance. She talked most of the time, not in the way you would hope during a private dance, and there wasn't any dance either - she just sat in my lap and let me grope her while she kept talking like we were still sitting at the bar. I commented on a new sign for "champagne rooms" and she said that's just to appease anyone who comes in looking for a "typical" strip club experience, but that's not really what they have there. After those dances, that much was clear.
