Clean and modern

This place is right in the heart of downtown Jackson on the main street. This area has made a real comeback in the last few years. A brewpub opened a block away, there is a late night Mexican restaurant, sports bar, dive bar, and other businesses open late at night. There are normal people walking around. It's still not what I'd call lively but no longer seems apocolyptic.

The Ruby Slipper re-opened a year ago after a major renovation and is still clean and shiny and smells nice. There is an entrance off the street and another off the parking lot in back. The street entrance doesn't give any obvious indication that this is a strip club but the big ruby slipper sign and red lights hint at it. This is not a sleazy block, there are normal businesses nearby. City Hall and the beautiful art deco county building are within a block.

The same owners also have Cracker Jaxx, and I recognized the door guy from previous visits there (this was my first time at the Slipper). He filled me in on some of the history of the building and the renovation. The city didn't really give them any trouble other than insisting the old sign had to go (this had been a sleazy strip club for years). Staff were all friendly and helpful.
