Traveling on business in Long Island and I made my first visit to Blush. No cover fee but I did see the sign others had mentioned about buying one drink per set. It did put me off a bit, but I figured they weren’t serious about enforcing it too much. The bar tender served me promptly, I bought a soda for $8 and watched the stage for a little while.

As previously described, the bar is in a U-shape around the stage with about thirty bar stools. Shallow arches and fluted columns gave the main room a vaguely Mediterranean vibe. Lighting was a bit dark for my taste; it should have been raised one more number on the dial. Sound volume was fine; not painful and you could have a conversation with the person next to you. Thankfully no serious chit chat from the DJ; he kept things moving by calling the next dancer to the stage, announcing the on-deck dancer, and thanking the dancer stepping off stage. Each dancer seemed to be on stage for about 10 minutes and did two tip walks per set. It was a relaxing, chill out vibe rather than a hot dance club vibe, which suits me fine.

It was a Monday night about 9:00 or so. Eight or nine customers and about the same number of dancers. Dancers were in the seven plus-or-minus one range. No drop dead stunners but no fuglies either. Bodies ranged from slender to voluptuous. Mostly white, several AA and one Latinia. Everyone I talked with sounded American, but I suspect one girl (who didn’t say much) might have been Eastern European.
