Not For The Claustrophobic
Conveniently across the street from our earlier stops at Mons Venus and Scores, the next stop my friend and I wanted to take was over at 2001 Odyssey. Once in a great while, I’ll soothe my curiosity and watch their web show where they live stream the stage action and their dressing room straight from their website (well. Parts of it, unless you put money down for a subscription). When we first drove by it while touring Tampa before stopping at any of the clubs (between 9 and 10 PM), the main parking lot looked full. Now it was just getting past 2 AM, and it didn’t look any different. I imagine the nude bars at this highway get ridiculously busy after all the alcohol bars close up.
We drove up slowly past the entrance where one of the bouncers outside motioned for us to go on the next street over where they offered extra parking behind the building. We took his advice and drove onto the road that the club sat beside, and the parking area that the bouncer was talking about looked industrialized and under partial construction, with the road entirely covered in gravel. Initially, we weren’t even sure if we could go in, but there was an open gate and parked cars inside, so we road on in to figure out where to park. There were two security guys that strode around to patrol the area, and one of them saw us and began signaling us to drive forward and into a particular spot. He didn’t seem very bright though, as he wanted us to drive in a spot completely piled with debris and right beside a big dip in the gravel. My friend attempted to park there for a second before I went ‘nope’ and asked the guy if we could park elsewhere since there was plenty of space. The security guy behind him apparently was confused by his direction too since I overheard him shouting and asking him what the hell he was doing.
So we turned around and found a good space right by the gate, gathered any belongings we might need, and headed on out of the car. The area is directly behind the bar, so it was a pretty short distance that we had to walk to be able to reach the front entrance. It may worry some people that the road is completely dark where only the extra parking zone is illuminated for them to see where they’re going.
