Better Than I Expected

I'm not sure why I had such low expectations for this visit. Looking back now, the average reviews on TUSCL are pretty decent. Maybe I'd just caught a few individual reviews that were underwhelming, or maybe it was just my mood that night. In any case, I was in Milwaukee at the Potawatomi casino and hotel, saw that this club was only 15-20 minutes away (without traffic), and decided to give it a try.

The club is pretty easily accessed, right off the highway. The area is more occupied than that around the Silk club in Madison. There are fast food places and what not off the same exit. The Silk club is adjacent to a music venue (apparently you get into Silk free if you go to one of the Friday or Saturday shows). That wasn't open when I arrived around 10:30 on a Thursday. The parking lot is well lit and seemed safe enough. The Silk building is amusingly designed like a castle, complete with crenelations and arched entries. I wondered briefly if it used to be some other sort of venue (why design a strip club this way), but never found out.

Inside I was asked for my id (examined, but not scanned). The doorman had a wand but declined to use it. Cover charge was $10. Heading in you hit a good sized bar area with seats wrapped all around it on one side of a large room with the stage. At first I thought I'd made a big mistake -- there weren't any dancers in sight. After a few moments, though, it became clear that they were doing one of their periodic parades and specials. This was introduced with the same song and banter as at the Silk club in Madison. There were maybe a dozen or so other patrons hanging out at the bar. I was surprised at the number of dancers that came out during the parade. I counted at least two dozen.
