Better than I expected
I've driven by Dancing Bare hundreds of times, but this was my first time inside. It helped that I had really low expectations, but I have to say it turned out better than I thought it would. As others have pointed out, the entrance is the remnants of an old skeezy porn shop, where I paid $10 cover. Since I was the only one there on Wednesday early evening, the guy who took the money went to the dancer's dressing room to let them know they had a customer.
The place isn't fancy at all, but it serves its purpose. If you've ever been to the low-end clubs in SE Portland (think Scarlet Lounge, Whispers, Shimmers) it's like that, but without beer. But it turns out that not having alcohol makes a big difference. In the divey clubs in Portland the dancers occasionally stumble through a sloppy stage show, but mostly they just hang out and do what they'd do even if they weren't strippers - get drunk in a dive bar. Dancing Bare has that same vibe, but no alcohol means no hanging out, so things get right down to business.
Anyway, I stood around awkwardly while the cashier guy went to get a dancer. I assumed I'd see the dancer then make an excuse and bolt, but I was pleasantly surprised by the tall, leggy curvy Latina who came out and joined me. The cashier guy went back out front, so we were literally the only two people in the club. She asked if I wanted a private dance and I said sure. Offer was $30 or $40 a dance. I started with $30 and upgraded to 3 for $100 after the first dance. Given the surroundings you can imagine what the dance was like. Everything was safe, but she worked hard to make sure I got my money's worth in 3 songs and she didn't ask for an extra tip.
