Tame Tiger
Urban Tiger remains open, despite attempts by the council last year to ban strip clubs in Bristol. The council’s current policy only allows two strip clubs in the city center - the other one is Central Chambers.
I visited on a Thursday night at about 10:30pm. It doesn’t open until 10pm on Mondays to Thursdays (9pm on Fridays and Saturdays, closed on Sundays). The door charge was £10. The security bouncer on the door was at least courteous when he explained the rules (no touching, no phones). Inside, there are two floors. Each floor has a bar and a stage with a pole, but I never saw anyone on stage while I was there. Downstairs, there are several padded orange velvet seats and dance booths. Upstairs has several private VIP lounges for groups.
I ordered a beer at the bar, which was £6 - reasonable for the city center. I guess it was still early, since there were only a couple of other customers and 3 dancers. An attractive dark haired dancer came over to me to chat. I guess she was Eastern European from the accent. She wasn’t too pushy, but didn’t take long to suggest a private dance. I was in the mood, so quickly agreed and we went over to one of the dance booths (which are still in full view of anyone else that cared to look). It was £20 for a single dance, which lasted only about 3-4 minutes. Sadly, she only got topless and it was strictly an air dance from about 3 feet away. Afterwards, I was promised more action if I went upstairs, but the prices she quoted started at £100 and I wasn’t convinced it was going to get any better. I decided to cut my losses, finish my beer and I was out of there by about 11pm.
Urban Tiger is tame stuff, but par for the course for UK strip clubs. If you want a more “hands on” experience, you will need to go to the much more seedy parlors in Old Market, just north of the city center.
