just not a great vibe

This place is in a little strip mall on the outskirts of Poughkeepsie; one nice thing about that is that there's an Italian place a couple doors down with a bar (and it's a non-alcohol club, so, if you're like me, you might want a couple Peronis or whatever before stopping in). Anyway, I was passing through, so I stopped in out of curiosity (not having been here for several years and having had a somewhat fond memory of a weird but satisfying night), and regretted it within about fifteen minutes.

The bouncer and bartender were friendly enough, but I was in there late enough in the evening that there should have been some dancers, and there was only one. She not being my type, I sat at the bar to watch TV until others came out. But me being the only customer, she insisted on getting my attention until I came down to the stools around the stage in the middle of the room. Captive, unhappy, I tipped her a few bucks while she gave me more attention than I wanted. Weak willed, I know, I know.

She wasn't unattractive at all -- tight body, maybe a 6-7 overall -- and overattentive is better than checked out, but what can I say, she had some crazy makeup on (like, crazy) and she just wasn't reading the vibe. I was there half an hour and only one other dancer came out (also a 6-7, not terrible) and immediately attached herself to the one other customer that came in at the same time. I got the sense that it would probably still be possible to have a fun weird night in here, but this was just a brightly-lit awkward time. Serve beer and dim the lights and I guess it might work for me.... as it is, even without other options nearby, not worth the stop.
