Saved the best for last.

It’s Saturday right before Noon. Follies was to be my last club to visit before I unfortunately had to end my trip in Atlanta and head back home to Jacksonville, but I had a feeling that it would be worth making this club the last on my hopping list.

EastCoaster and I arrived right before the staff made the club open to the general public. But there was already a line of gentlemen waiting outside the door like the starting crowd to Walmart on Black Friday - only much more appealing and much less stressful. EC motioned towards a particular man standing amongst the crowd of club go-ers, and as we approached the building, he introduced me to him, saying that that this was Shadowcat. Just as he is on the boards, he is a very earnest and kind gentleman, and meeting him was half the reason I wanted to check out Follies in the first place. It was maybe only 5 more minutes of reconnecting and small talk that one of the bouncers came out and finally let us early birds in. The line to get in was pretty fast paced, as if the guys already knew the drill. Entering the building, the booth to pay your cover is immediately on your right side. People strode by and simply left a $5 bill on the counter for the door girl to take and kept on walking. The constant moving was only hindered if someone set off the metal detector that’s in front of you as you walk in the club, but I believe only 1 person in front of us set it off.

Walking in, the room was very dark, and EC immediately escorted me to the ‘Shadowcat corner’ where we set all the tables and chairs up so that we could sit side by side to each other on the high stools, so that we could easily talk to each other as well as be in a good position for some dances. The club technically wasn’t even open yet, so I wasn’t sure if any girls were already inside getting ready or not. The other patrons that did come in scattered either to the bar in the middle of the room or picked a regular table or a spot on the couches to sit at.
