After the storm

It's been over a week since Irma dropped by Florida and "destroyed" much of the state. News reports indicated Jacksonville was "hit hard." Though I saw little sign of damage from the interstate. I needed to get to the Canaveral area by Wednesday morning, so an afternoon stop at Wackos, just off I-95, seemed to be required.

The first thing I notice (after my eyes adjust to the dim lighting) is that the club is not crowded. Arriving at a little after 2:00pm, there are about 12 customers, 5 "bouncers," 3 waitresses, about 8 dancers, and the dressing room "mom" (who keeps walking out to talk to different people). I am able to make this exact count because, in spite of me taking a seat at the bar with all three waitresses feet from me behind the bar and no other customer being served, it took over 5 minutes for service! While I am waiting I see one bouncer enter the VIP and look abound three different times (that is something I had not ever seen before in Wackos).

A look around at the ladies reveals a very fair (skinned) group. There does not appear to be any Black or Asian dancers, in the mix today. Most appear to be "in shape" blondes, with a few brunettes in the mix. One of the darker complected dancers turned out to be Cuban, but even she would have passed for Anglo if you saw her on the street. The club had dancers using all three stages, even though NO ONE was sitting in the area between the bar and VIP where the third stage is. In fact, almost all the customers were seated at the bar (9 of 12).
