Vegas on a hot day
So some background: I was staying at a big name hotel/casino and decided to go for a walk. If anybody says walking in the afternoon in August in Las Vegas is a good idea, don't listen. I am used to the Southwest so the weather (more than 100 F) was not the real problem, but the fact that I took a wrong turn down Western Ave and couldn't get back to my hotel (even though it was in sight). So I am walking down Western Ave, and it is an industrial area, without even a convenience store.
I wasn't actually thinking of going into a strip club--it is about 4pm--and in fact, I pass several that are closed. But by the time I get to Cheetahs, I am hot and thirsty. So I walk in (the sign says 24 hours). There is nobody in the entrance, but when I get in the club there is a bouncer-looking guy. I ask him if there is a cover, and he asks me how I got there. I tell him, I walked in through the front door. He says, no, how did you get to the club. I tell him I walked. He looks confused. Maybe the cover is variable depending on whether you get a cab or not, but in any case he let me in for free, with 2 drinks ($10) minimum. I am not stupid enough to drink only beer in that state, so one of the drinks was a water.
Okay, so the bar. It is tastefully decorated in strip-club noire. I sit at the bar and order my water and coors lite (the bartender laughs at my joke about their not being much difference). It is air conditioned.
