Eye Candy Only

I had a rare business trip to Phoenix a couple of months ago. I was tied up during the day and did not get to try any day shift clubbing, but I did go out four nights in a row. I've been to Phoenix on two other occasions and my strip club experiences ranged from mediocre to awful. Back in 2007 or 2008, I spent a weekend in Scottsdale. I went to the horrible Scottsdale clubs, which at the time I believe was Dreams and Babes. Both of these clubs seemed more like high pressure scams than clubs you could have a good time in. A couple of years ago I had a long layover and went to Elite. It was okay for cheap beer, but little else. Given Phoenix's reputation on Tuscl, I was looking forward to trying some better clubs.

After meetings all day Thursday, I went out for dinner and then tried Christie's Cabaret Tempe due to proximity. The club was located in a very safe area. It is right on a major thoroughfare. It is basically in the front parking lot of a Ramada Inn hotel. The club had ample parking and no charge for self parking. At shortly after 8:00 PM there was a $10 cover charge. No frisking, no metal detector wand, and no request to show ID.

The club itself is quite posh with almost a pseudo-Art Deco decor. A waitress was quickly at my table to take a drink order, so service was good. Due to jet lag, I was only drinking water. I don't recall how much bottled water cost. The club is set up with a domed covered round stage with one stripper pole in the middle. During my time there I did not see any significant pole gymnastics, that may be due to the fact that the stripper pole is not anchored at the top and it might not be conducive to an aggressive routine.
