Sultry afternoons at XTC

I have visited Austin once or twice a year for the last eight years. I always stay a week or two and visit 3-5 strip clubs. Since 2009 I have managed to visit all of the clubs in town except for Rick’s and Foxy’s near Round Rock and Babes near nothing and I’ve noticed that my favorite clubs have shifted considerably over the years.

Early on I always went to Yellow Rose and Expose and sometimes to Sugar’s Uptown Cabaret (now called Perfect 10 South, near the former Highland Mall). In recent years I always visit the Landing Strip and XTC with occasional stops at Chicas Bonitas and Hot Bodies. I’ll also hit Expose if I’m in the vicinity. What does it say about me that I eschew the higher-class clubs such as Perfect 10 and Palazio?

This review covers two rather different visits to XTC, one on a Sunday afternoon (which is my usual day) and the other on a Wednesday afternoon. Both times I arrived in early to mid-afternoon, parked free by the side of the building, and paid $15 for cover. This is high, of course, but keep in mind that XTC is a BYOB place, so my total outlay for alcohol was about $3 for a 25-oz Mexican beer from a convenience store on my way to the club. Also, dance prices are exceptional. Check the website -- www.xtcaustin.com/ -- for details, but I believe lap dances on the side of the main room are $10 on Sunday and Tuesday and only $5 (at least during the day) on Monday and Thursday. On both my Sunday and Wednesday visits, I paid $10 per lap dance.
