Who knew there was a middle of no where in Manhattan
After a party near by, I had the chance to get to a club in my own city. Midtown West, verging on way Midtown West, heading off towards the Javits Center and past the stables for the horses that pull the handsome cabs (an aside, even the horses live in Apt. Buildings).
I picked HQ because it was close to the party. It seemed to have ok reviews. After the trek to this small isolated area, I shouldn't have been surprised at how empty the club was (on a Friday Night!). They waved the cover. It was also just starting to cool off after a very hot day and they only had a big fan on inside. Small bar to the left as you walk in. A larger one (closed) on the other side. Place was dark. There was one other PL talking to 2 dancers at bar. I sat and was approached by a mature latina. Well approached is the wrong word, she got up from talking at a table with 2 other latina dancers and walked the 3 feet over to me. I asked her why so quiet and she said, oh, it will be busier later (raise your hand if you've heard that one before).
It was a cordial if strained conversation. Just nothing at all in common to talk about. I had one Dewars, don't even remember what I paid and left. Such a rarity for me to have the opportunity to get to a club in NYC and I wasn't about to waste my time here.
