A rocky start, but it picked up
I had the opportunity, so I made another visit to the Silk club in Middleton (i.e. west Madison). The first half hour or so was pretty disappointing, starting immediately with my arrival. The parking lot felt much darker than in the past. It didn't feel unsafe, and perhaps I'm just not remembering well, but at the time it just gave the place a slightly off vibe. This was compounded when I went inside. There were very few people there. One long section of the cushioning around the stage was all beat up and looking ratty. And no one was performing on stage. There was one dancer of mediocre looks sort of trying a few things, with another offering pointers, but no actual performance. This was around 10pm on a Friday - perhaps early to be busy, but the combination of things just made the place feel a little tired.
The wait staff was quick and friendly, though. My Coke was $3.50 (cover was $10). I decided to just sort of chill and see how things went. After about a half hour, they had 1-3 dancers performing in rotation on the stage. Even by 11:30, there weren't that many people (a far cry from my previous Friday night visit which was too crowded to be pleasant). Maybe everyone decided it wasn't a good night for the strip club.
Fortunately, I like a modestly busy club, especially if there are enough dancers, and by 11:30 there were quite a few and they were actually performing. The stage dances were about what I've come to expect here - pretty good, with a few good and a few lame. I was pleasantly surprised at the variety of dancers. There were many more non-white dancers (latina, black, asian, etc) than the last time I was at Silk. Most were reasonably attractive. One blonde was gorgeous. She was busy being a buddy to a newcomer, though, which limited her availability.
