Another Hurley Trip
Eve and I took a 152 mile trip North to Hurley again to check out the six clubs on the Lower Block. (See separate reviews for The Idle Hour, The Silver Dollar and The Full Moon Saloon.) Unfortunately only 4 were open. Hurley's peak season is the winter months with snowmobiling and ice fishing being the big draw to the area, and in the summer it's boating and fishing, along with motorcycling that brings people in but at the end of April there isn't as much going on...and as a result the night life suffers.
We arrived in Hurley about 7:45 Saturday night after a 3 hour drive and parked across the street from all the clubs on the Lower Block.
Stop number 4 was The Full Moon Saloon. In past trips, this was one of the best stops, but tonight it fell far short. Only 2 dancers, one who was excessively over weight, and another who was very young, very thin and looked more like your high school aged niece than a stripper. At least here they had Diet Coke in a can, something Eve and I were both happy about...and once again soda's were two bucks a can. We did a quick job of almost finishing our drinks and rotated through the other clubs a time or two before heading home. As said before, The Full Moon has always been one of the best, if not THE best club in town, but tonight they could have just as well left the doors locked.
One thing I did notice especially this time was that a large number of guys brought their wives or girlfriends along and the dancers were all quite attentive to them. I'd guess I saw between 15 and 20 couples in the 4 strip clubs and like Eve and I they were all making the rounds. There was two female couples I saw as well drifting between clubs. All in all Hurley is a very fun place. The dancers all enjoy their work and are very accommodating. The private dance areas are not very private, but I'd guess that take out would be available if desired. Of the dancers I talked to through the course of the night, two were from Michigan, one from Minnesota and the rest from various locations around Wisconsin. The transient nature of the dancers working Hurley adds to the fun and tends to bring in girls that enjoy the lifestyle. If Hurley is within driving distance, I'd definitely recommend a visit to check it out. The Silver Street Hotel (right across form the Lower Block) is now closed, but there are several other places within a mile or two for those not wanting to drive home. It's all pretty much remote 2-lane roads for a number of miles in any direction, and LOTS of deer and even bear that don't always know to stay off the roads.
