Angels

I stopped in at Angles on a Friday afternoon. Angels is a decently classy club and worth a visit, but I didn't have a ton of fun there. I'd have to see how things go at other times before making a more enthusiastic recommendation.

Angels is located on the King Highway a bit east of downtown K-zoo. It's easily visible from the road, but is in a wooded area so it comes up pretty suddenly. If you're not ready for it you might shoot by. The building's pretty nice looking, and there's plenty of parking - mostly on the sides and to the rear of the building while the building entry is pretty close to the road. There's lights and it looks like it'd be decently bright at night. There's really no other option for parking other than the lot. If you smoke, you do it out in front of the entrance.

The inside of the club is pretty nice. When you enter, you're on the long side of a rectangular room with a long stage running down the middle of it, with poles on either end. The bar is directly opposite the stage from the entry. To the right and wrapping around the exterior wall are booths, with a row of tables between the booths and the stage. It's mostly the same to the left, but in the far left corner is the hall to the dance areas and bathrooms. No matter where you sit in the club, you'll have a decent view of the stage. There's no actual tip rail, just small tables adjacent to the stage. Almost no one sat at those while I was there. At either end of the stage where the poles are, the stage widens out a bit, so that the whole thing is kind of barbell-shaped.
