Porthole

Visited Porthole on a Tuesday night. The club is under new management and the club has been trending down since the changeover. I decided to check in after taking a break from the club for a while - recon mission. Parking the same $2 fair enough and entry fee $5 again - fair enough. Upon entering the club I saw a fair amount of dancers there. It was a clear there was a substantial change in dancer mix. Typically a 90% black dancer clientele - on this night I would say the dancer ratio was 60% White 40% Black. I also would say the quality of the dancers were way under the Porthole norm. Most of the white dancers were a little tired looking and in the 4 to 5 range. The black dancers were in the 5 to 6 range. This was a definite downgrade. Many of the Porthole regular dancers were not there - apparently had moved on to other clubs. There were some other real noticeable changes - many of the girls were wearing long dresses - apparently new management is requiring this - talking to the girls they are not happy about this. They also raised the cost of the dances in the back - now 2 dances for $30 instead of 2 for $25. Needless to say, the girls are not getting a penny more - the club picking up the full increase. Bartenders completely different as well. Music was so outdated - can't even figure out what genre they were trying to represent. Took advantage of the two for $30 - all the same there as far as I can tell - as far as mileage and available extras. The club was as slow as I have ever seen it and vibe was non-existant. Management is definitely trying to turn the club upscale - just do not think the area where the club is located is conducive to that. Hope they adjust back at some point - not really an enjoyable experience this night - not a complete loss either. Will keep it on my list for now and see how things progress.
