Sacramento Area Comparison
I now have the dubious distinction of having gone to ALL of the clubs in the Sacramento area which is not really a great feat. I’m going to share a portion of this review with a second club from the area because I think a side by side comparison helps. This time around I visited Pure Gold and Déjà vu a couple times each. I had been to Déjà vu before and had sometimes been underwhelmed so started at Pure Gold. While Déjà vu is in a large space with tall ceilings and a large private dance area with cubbies, Pure Gold is in a strip mall, low ceilings and pretty cramped with seats positioned every which way. Signs say you can’t stand around. I’d say it pretty much qualifies as a dive. I did like their private dance spaces slightly better than DVs. DVs are exceedingly dark with the lights from the timer machines being particular glaring. In DV, the dancer puts the whole of the dance amount in the machine to set the timer. At PG, they have this odd thing with a fiver needing to be put in the machine and you pay the dancer the rest directly. We bargained for that cost, but the machine switches the light (and one booth even turned on an overhead fan) for a good 10/15m it seemed regardless of what you pay the girl, typically $100 for the full time.
I’d say the dancers were comparable. Both had a few good lookers as well as a few who shouldn’t be taking any clothes off. All in all, nothing above a 7 though. Hustle factor varied and I’d give the higher one to DV but both places left me lonely at times, probably because I wasn’t a regular at either. At PG, I got a real hard sell from the one girl I got dances from each night I was there. Mileage was very good though with high mutual contact compared with DV which had some good grind but not much else. YMMV
PG shares a door with an adult store. They ask if you’re there for the “show.” Place seemed to have various entry fees depending on day and time. My first night there it was $16, second night is was $19(?). They give you a red plastic cup so you can help yourself to fountain sodas. They also sell food which I thought was a really bad idea. Place seemed to stink of raw chicken and it turned my stomach. Layout had a large screen in the center of the place playing UFC fights with the main stage to the right and a smaller stage to the left. Signs said to sit at the rail, you had to pay $1 for each song (I’m assuming to the girl). I sat for a couple of the dances and tipped more than the $2 that would have been required for the set. No one bugged me nor did I ever see anyone keeping tabs.
