Of the ten or so times I've bothered to go to the Boom Boom Room, only two or three really stand out. A few years ago my girl and I used to have an office job in Lake Oswego. We would have to commute from there to SE Portland every afternoon. Two winters ago there was a relatively bad snow storm that day. By relatively bad, I mean where I grew up, this would have been referred to as "a dusting". The beauty of our job closing early though, was that the highway was empty, save for the cars stranded on the side of it. We were cruising home at a record clip when we decided to swing by Boom Boom Room for a cocktail.

Upon our arrival, I was not surprised to see that there were no dancers. Due to the weather, they all called off their shifts. In fact, the bartender was closing up the place because of the weather. The only difference between how dead it was that day, verses how dead that club is most of the others times that I've been there... the snow. It is always that dead there.

I wrote the club off at that point. I'd been there a couple of times and I think I only ever saw one dancer total. I decided I would never go back.
