A Quick Visit

Temptations is on an island in New Bedford harbor. It has never been called classy, but it is nearby for me and once a year or so I feel I should check out the local talent. I usually regret it.

I arrived about 7:00 pm and there was no one at the door and therefore there was no cover. I sat at the bar and ordered a bourbon & water and saw the fairly attractive bartender reaching for Jack Daniels. I finally directed her to the Jim Beam and that was fine . There was no dancer on stage when I entered and maybe 6 or 7 other customers, including one couple. Finally a dancer came on stage and no one was sitting at the stage which meant no tips, so during her second song I took a seat at the stage and tipped a couple of dollars. Her bra was long gone and once I tipped off came the rest. She was a little pudgy and had a few too many tattoos for my taste, but she made an honest effort to act sexy.

This city is a major fishing port and every time she squatted near me I think I smelled tuna fish. Maybe not.

I retreated to the bar and refilled my drink while another dancer came on stage. The previous dancer came and sat with me at the bar and I bought her a drink, but really didnt find her attractive enough to get my engine running. She asked if I wanted a dance and I said maybe later, but really was hoping for a better selection. As the time went by I kept watching the stage, hoping that a diamond in the rough would emerge but they were all pretty rough. Not bad, not good
