Probably about as good as you can expect in DC

Based on all of the information I have Mpire is probably about as good as you can get in the DC area. It is definitely better (in my experience) than the nearby Camelot (review forthcoming).

First a description. There are two circular stages on either side of the bar, each with a pole. When I was there (Friday 9-11pm) they were both occupied essentially continuously. The dancers were certainly attractive and (for the most part) did get completely nude. I was seated almost exactly between the stages and the lighting was quite good. However, it seemed to me that most parts of the club would offer a good view of at least one stage, including the areas to the side of the bar. Several dancers appeared to sit in the area behind the left stage (from my perspective in front of the bar).

I was not expecting private dances since this is DC. Some girls were sitting with patrons and most did a tip walk after each dance but my personal interactions were limited. I did have a brief chat with a girl who claimed to be dancing for the first time and (separately) with a friend of hers that claimed she recommended to her friend that she begin dancing. I realized that a problem with a no private dance club is that there is no easy out if you are talking with a dancer and it is a little painful. Neither of these girls were particularly good conversationalists but they were also just sitting with me, fully clothed. There was another girl that introduced herself as "Kate the great" who wore nerdy glasses and seemed like she might be interesting, but she disappeared (see below).
