I work in DC, and for nearly 20 years Archibald's has been my "regular" club. DC rules regarding dancer contact are what they are, and we locals deal with it (and dream of that "business trip" to Detroit). I choose Archibald's when I need a 90-minute vacation because of its consistency--good service, attractive dancers, safe neighborhood. I stopped in today after being on vacation for a couple of weeks, and much to my surprise there were a couple of curtained booths just inside the club, at the foot of the stairs along the East wall. I asked the dancers about the booths, and they confirmed that private dances were now a thing. Pricing was too high for my taste--$200 (half to the club, half to the dancer) for 15 minutes, if I understood correctly. The booths didn't offer much privacy--the bouncer tends to hang out there by the entrance, and the booths are directly across from the juke box (meaning a dancer is standing there choosing music every 10-15 minutes. Also, I understand that DC law still applies, meaning no contact. Word is, there is an even more expensive VIP upstairs--something like $800 for 30 minutes. While the new arrangement isn't for me, I'll be interested to see how it works. I've always wondered how the very good-looking dancers at Archibald's and other clubs in the District could make a living on dollar bills folded lengthwise. Maybe this will help, maybe there will be drama (if some dancers offer "extras"). Time will tell.
