sign of life
Hustler used to be my favorite club in the Metro Detroit area until corporate management took over and jacked up the prices and closed down most of the fun in the club (hint: this is not a good business model). I recently decided to visit the club to see if the atmosphere and talent had improved. Yes, it has improved but it still has a ways to go to compete with the other clubs in Metro Detroit.
The club still looks quite good. Parking is safe and does not require a valet to park your car. The drink specials were also a major plus (but I don't go to strip clubs with drinking as my top priority). A few of the dancers will perform nude on stage. All good features!
Of the ten dancers who were working on a Friday evening, four or five were decent looking and the others were disappointing (chubby or relatively old, as in 40s or more). I did arrange for two private dances in the upstairs area. Here's where they still need to rethink their business model. You can get dances in a semi private area (a small room with a sheer, see-through curtain) for $25 per song; pretty limited mileage but OK for a "test run." Or you can use a different set of rooms with doors for privacy that cost $200 for 15 minutes and much more for a longer visit (think 400 or 500 dollars for longer visits). I'm not sure how much of this flat fee goes to the dancer but it is very apparent that this is not an "all inclusive price" in that you will need to negotiate with the dancer for a tip and details of your private dance. This is the problem! Most of the Detroit clubs provide private dance areas (although not quite as nice as Hustler) but for a "rental" fee of $20 plus whatever you negotiate with the dancer for either dances only or for extra curricular activities. As a result, private dances are much more expensive at Hustler than at most of its Detroit competitors.
