Depressingly subdued.
After discovering the renamed Cabaret Royale is dying an ugly death, I drove around the corner to check out the SR. I should have driven further! Even though I was after 9pm on a weekday, the club was not busy. After paying a $12 cover I was seated but one of the "hosts" in a poorly fitting tux, who was anxious to explain all the details of the club. (Including where the bathroom was and that I could go check out the upstairs area) It took over a minute to get away from the guy. Immediately upon sitting down a mature (high 30s would be my guess) blond with well done enhanced boobs, a slim, toned body and a very nice smile asks if she can join me (she is seated even before I answer and well before the waitress arrived).
I ordered a $7 beer and briefly conversed with the blond who wanted to show me the VIP. As we walk the short distance to the VIP room she says, "we can have all the fun you want in the VIP for only $700." That stops me completely. I tell her that $700 is not going to happen and the subsequent exchange clarifies that the club charges a minimum of $400 for VIP (the dancer gets some of that) and she wants $300 more but will accept less. I decide to just get a lap dance from her to start and this lady is willing but insists that all lap dances are "pay in advance." I give her $50 for 2 dances and ask her to, "sell me on VIP", hoping to determine if anything could happen. Nothing happened. All I got were two air dances with a little grind and her leaning in to tell me several times that we "can do a lot more" in VIP.
I did get away from this dancer and spoke to two others, who agreed that all dances were "pay in advance" and the minimum VIP was $400. There doesn't appear to anyplace in the club private enough for a good lap dance without going to VIP - and I am just too cheep to pay $400 for untested action. Finally, I left. I doubt I will return anytime soon.
