Great spot, especially if you like Women of Color

Atlantis is an interesting West Philly Spot. It's situated very near the University of Pennsylvania, so it's a very safe neighborhood, although the club itself is slightly out of view (one has to descend a stairway from street level to get in.). There's an Indo-Chinese restaurant right near by, and West Philly has plenty of decent grub all over, so you can definitely get decent food before or after your visit if that's what you're craving.

The interior is a bit dim and dank, but not horribly so. This is definitely not one of the "elite" (i.e., pay lots of money for very low action) Philadelphia clubs like Delililah's, but it's not a total burned-out dive, either. "Safe but seedy" is how'd I'd describe the general feel. There was a 7$ cover when I arrived (about 730 PM or so) ; I think it's free before 7 PM. Beverages are typical bar fare; nothing extraordinary, but nothing extraordinarily overpriced. More of a place for basic, solid beer than anything else, I'd say. There were two or three TV's playing sporting events when I arrived. That's not what I want to watch in these sorts of places, but I know some people like mixing sports with this kind of entertainment.

The women - really the most important consideration - were a nice bunch. Almost all of the dancers I saw were Black ; one was Latina. The patrons were an ethnically mixed bunch, though, as were the staff. I'm a White boy myself, but definitely partial to women of all races. If you strongly prefer Caucasian or Asian women, this probably isn't the right place for you.
