First visit in 3 years

As the title says, I haven't been to this club in 5 years. It was my favorite club in Boise back then as the girls were essentially all cute, the drinks were cheap, and the ambience kind of mix of neighborhood bar/strip club. So keep that in mind as I describe the experience I had a few weeks ago on a Friday night. I decided to try the Torch after the action at the Spearmint Rhino was pretty lame.

When I walked in the doorman was friendly. What was striking is that the club has been completely remodeled. When I commented the doorman said that they really overhauled the place to look "high-end" and that they stole "all the best looking girls from Spearmint Rhino". The ambience is actually very much like a higher end men's club now. My first impression was that it is very nice. Was criticism is that it seemed too bright for a strip club. That's just my personal taste though. The club interior consists of a main room with a stage, stage seating, tables with chairs and a bar along the back wall. There is an upper level that has some pool tables as well. I sat at the bar and ordered a beer and draft beer selection seems to have improved as well. While enjoying my Stella, I took some time to look more closely at the interior remodel. The old Torch had a fairly large island stage right in the middle of the room which was replaced by a smaller peninsula stage that extends from a wall. It appears that was changed in order to create more table seating in the main room. The Torch had a very unique feature on the ceiling above the stage; a steering wheel looking apparatus that the girls could hang on and spin but that was removed in the remodel.

Now to the girls. If you like body art then this is your place! Granted, the girls at Spearmint Rhino have body art but there are some that have very little or no ink at all. All of the girls at the Torch have LOTS of ink. That is neither good nor bad, just an observation. The talent range was probably 5-8. What was really kind of different in the club was that the dancers seemed to park themselves in a room and only come out for dancing on the stage. When I arrived there were 2 girls sitting at a table with 2 gentlemen but when they left shortly after I arrived the two girls adjourned to the back as well. Once in a while a girl may wander through but really made no attempts to engage any of the customers. Now some might find that great as it's a very no pressure environment unlike the Rhino which sometimes gets pretty aggressive. For me I like the social interaction and a little forwardness is welcomed. I sat for two beers at the bar and when a dancer I fancied got to the stage I decided to sit at the stage and tip a few $$'s. The dancer was nice yet professional. She said that private dances were available but didn't push that option. I said that I would be interested after my beer and thought that she would join me after her set but like the others, she disappeared into the back after her set and didn't come out. So after finishing my beer I decided to call it a night.
