First visit to a re-opened Scandals
I had missed out on the fun that was the old Scandals, and never got the opportunity to visit before its closure. Even though the few recent, post-reopening reviews haven't been stellar, I had to cross Scandals off my list.
The club is big, with a large, two-pole stage enclosed by a three-sided bar. Past the bar there are a number of low chairs and tables, and a roped off VIP area behind those. As girls finish their stage sets, they walk around the bar for tips, but never seem to approach patrons sitting further back. Drink prices are NYC standard, and the bartenders, while pleasant, were much less to look at than you might expect at a club like this.
There were fewer than 10 girls working, about half of whom were black with the remainder split white and latin. While two of the girls stood out as genuinely gorgeous, most fell into the average range, with only a couple of really unattractive dancers (one overweight and one sadly butchered by a badly botched breast enhancement). Stage dances were tame but executed at a competent level. As usual for a day-shift crew, many of the girls were bored between stage sets and simply retreated into their phones. Dancers who approached me adopted a more conversational, low-pressure tack that, along with some bold hand-work, succeeded in selling me on a few dances.
